It was a nice and sunny day out in Paradise Park. The birds were chirping and the clouds were floating above the sky. To Jamie Malone, it was the perfect day for a walk and reading a book. After walking for several hours, Jamie had found the perfect spot to sit down and read a book. Her book that she chose to read was Pride and Predjudice by Jane Austen.
She had already read the book several times and she still enjoyed the book over and over again. No matter how old it was. She kept staring at the page and watched the words flowon by as she read them over and over again. Jamie was so entranced into the book that she didn't notice another person sitting on the bench. She didn't notice the person until she was done with the chapter to look at what time it was.

Joshua was lost in his own little world, fingering his cigarettes in his jacket pocket. He was debating on whether or not to smoke one. He was trying to quit though. But it was more for his sister's sake then his own so it wasn't working very well. He supposed that he'd have to want it for himself in order for it to work properly.
So, he sat on a bench without noticing that someone was already sitting on it. And then, when he looked up he almost gasped aloud. However, no expression on that face of his. Of course he knew who it was. It was Jamie Malone. A really good-girl. A girl who probably would not want to be seen with him.
"That book must be pretty good. You seemed really lost in it," he commented. And then he wanted to kick himself. What kind of comment was that? And really, did he even want to talk about books? He never ever read. Not even for homework assignments.

Jamie looked up when she heard someone say something to her. She looked up and saw Joshua Powell. She was lost for words and didn't even know what to say. She knew she had to get a hold of herself and say something back to him.
"Oh, um, yeah. I guess it is. It's a classic," she said to his comment. She really never knew what to say to people. Especially him. She could probably talk to anyone, except him. Jamie sat there and kept wondering why he was sitting there.
People would think that people like Joshua and her would never sit next down to each other. Even if it was on accident. She still kept wondering how that happened anyways.

Joshua wanted to cringe at himself. To him, her words was a clear indicator that she didn't want to talk to him. But not many in the town really did want to talk to him. He knew that it was his fault that it was that way, but he did nothing to change it. He continued in his bad boy ways, instead of showing the town that he really wasn't so bad.
He nodded when she said that it was a classic, but couldn't think what to say to that. He could always say that he didn't like books, which was mostly the truth. But then that probably wouldn't impress her very much. And he did like books, ocassionally. He was just too lazy to read them.
"Cool," he said lamely, wanting to shoot himself. He usually was a lot cooler then this, never at a loss for something to say. But around her, he couldn't seem to think of anything cool to say.
"So, you really like to read huh?" he asked, keeping the conversation going, even if it was a little strained.

Jamie listened to what he was saying. "Uh, yeah. I do. It's something to do when there is nothing else to do," stated Jamie. She really had no clue what she was saying. It was just pouring out of her mouth and it really didn't make sense to her. But at the same time, it did.
Jamie was good at talking to people, it just didn't seem easy to her when it was with someone that she had barely even said hi to before. Jamie closed her book and remembered what page she was on. If she was going to start talking to people, she might as well start now. "So, uhm, what do you like to do in your spare time then," she asked. She tried to sound normal while talking to him. She just hoped that it was working.

He listened and nodded at her words. At her question, he shrugged trying to think of what to say.
"I like to work on cars. I like to fix things. Things like that," he responded lamely. Geez, this girl was going to think he was a freak or something.
"So, what about you? Other then reading, what do you like to do in your spare time?" he asked. He didn't know why Jamie intrigued him exactly. He only knew that she did. But she was probably only being polite in asking him questions. She probably didn't want to be seen with him, whatsoever. In spite of that, he really did want to get to know her better. So, he stayed right where he was at.

Jamie listened to what he said. "That's cool. I've tried fixing some things, but they never really wanted to get fixed," she said with a small laugh.
Once he asked her what she did in her spare time, she really didn't know. "Uhh, I like to play with my animals and take walks. Nothing really interesting," relpied Jamie. She almost smacked herself in the head when she said that. She just basicaly told him that she wasn't interesting.
Jamie was still wondering why he was sitting next to her. Most people never spoke to her, let alone sat next to her.
